OT-Informed Tutoring with Emily, a Licensed Occupational Therapist Specializing in Autism and Special Needs

Empowering children to improve their fine-motor skills, self-expression, and confidence.

Child happily practicing handwriting

As an Occupational Therapist with nearly 20 years of experience, I combine proven handwriting strategies with a deep understanding of developmental milestones—especially for children on the autism spectrum and other special needs. Each session targets letter formation, grip, posture, and sensory integration, all tailored to your child's unique strengths.

One-on-One Sessions Customized to Your Child

Every session is tailored to your child's specific needs, learning style, and sensory preferences. I take the time to understand what works best for your child.

Emphasis on Fine-Motor, Sensory, and Postural Skills

My approach addresses the underlying skills that impact handwriting, not just the letters themselves. This creates lasting improvement and confidence.

Fun, Engaging Activities and Positive Reinforcement

Sessions are designed to be enjoyable and rewarding. I use games, multisensory activities, and positive reinforcement to keep children motivated.

Regular Progress Updates & Collaborative Feedback

I provide detailed progress reports and work closely with you to ensure we're meeting your child's goals. Your input is essential to our success.

Portrait of Emily

I'm Emily, a licensed Occupational Therapist with a bachelor's in Child Psychology and a master's in Occupational Therapy from the University of Minnesota. For nearly two decades, I've worked with children on the autism spectrum and those with various learning or developmental challenges.

My passion lies in helping kids unlock their full potential through hands-on, supportive, and joyful learning experiences. I believe that handwriting isn't just about neat letters—it's about confidence, self-expression, and setting a solid foundation for academic success.

I specialize in working with children who have autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dysgraphia, developmental coordination disorder, and sensory processing challenges. My approach is gentle, patient, and always focused on celebrating progress, no matter how small.

When I'm not tutoring, you can find me exploring local parks, reading about the latest research in pediatric OT, or enjoying time with my family.
